Edna Hibel passed away at age 98 in 2014 and is well remembered for the faces she has painted during a long career as an artist in Florida. The Hibel Mueum of Art is in the Palm Beach Florida area and this is where Rosemary McCain and Edna became good friends.

The piece on offer is dedicated to Rosemary and her husband Andrew McMillin with a special inscription from the artist. It is interesting to note that Rosemary’s parents were medical missionaries in China prior to Rosemary’s birth – thus the significance of the personal dedication.

Edna Hibel came into prominence when she partnered with Royal Doulton in 1973 to offer a limited series of plates entitled “Mother and Child.”

Habitat Fredericton was honoured to be the recipient of many of Rosemary’s art-works at her recent passing.
